CHALLENGE: Rico developed many campaigns for HBO. The challenge was always to create fresh approaches to standard publicity shots of programs.
SOLUTION: Multiple techniques were used, employing top illustrators and developing the early uses of metalic inks in entertainment posters. For Bowie’s ‘Serious Moonlight’ tour, Rico proposed ‘Glow in the Dark’ inks for the moon. This poster was sadly never printed.
RESULTS: Rico established early design standards for HBO and was seminal in helping to create the CINEMAX brand.
